Man beaten to death for allegedly steal a pair of trouser



Musoma. Resident of Kenedy street in Musoma municipal has been beaten to death for allegedly stealing a pair of second hand trouser at the market.







The Mara Regional Police Commander, Mr Jafari Mohamed, named the deceased as Habibu Ramadhani, 35, who was beaten by the group of people after he was found in possession of the stolen trouser.
He explained that the incident took place at Nyasho area within Musoma municipality where there is a second hand clothes market.
He said Ramadhani died from excessive bleeding at Musoma government hospital where he was rushed for treatment.
Commander Mohamed said that the incident took place on Saturday, September 9, at 4pm. It all started when the second hand cloth shop owner known as Goria Kitegi, shouted for help, alleging that there was a thief who has made away with a pair of trousers in his shop.
Several people gathered to assist and start beating Ramadhani before police arrived.
Commander Mohamed said that so far one person has been arrested in connection with the killing.
But speaking to The Citizen, some people who knew Ramadhani, insisted that he was not a thief. They said he went at the area to identify properties that were stolen from his salon.
Speaking on condition of anonymity they said that the deceased was decent person and that he owned a salon but his salon.
"We knew him as a faithful person. I don’t think that he could engage in such kind of things as he was busy with his business here and he went there only to identify things that were stolen from his salon," explained one witness.
