HOMOSEXUAL WERE ARRESTED IN ZANZIBAR

Zanzibar authorities have arrested 20 suspected members of homosexuality, the closest incident when it comes to the search against homosexuals on the east coast of Africa.

12 men and 8 men were arrested following police invasion in one hotel where the suspects were participating in workshops according to police chief Hassan Ali.

"We were really able to arrest them because we suspect that they were engaging in homosexuality something illegal in Zanzibar and that it was a violation of the Tanzanian law," he added adding that police would increase their patrols against such groups .

Homosexuality is a crime in Tanzania and sex among men is guilty of imprisonment for a period of 30 years in prison and life imprisonment.

The Tanzanian authorities recently made an appeal against homosexuals, in September 2016, the government temporarily terminated the HIV / AIDS programs of homosexual partners.

In February, the government terminated 40 services of private health centers in claiming that they were providing services to the same sex partners.
